How to Read Adobe Digital Editions on Kindle

Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) is an eBook reader app produced by Adobe to manage and read library ebooks. It is a good application, but it frequently freezes and crashes. Do you have a Kindle device and wonder how to transfer Adobe Digital Editions books to Kindle to read? Of course, there’s a way to do it. But before that, you should know some knowledge about Adobe Digital Editions and Kindle.

Adobe Digital Editions books are ePub and PDF format (include PDFs and ePubs converted from ACSM file), while a Kindle device and Kindle app only support Kindle format such as Mobi and AZW3. So the breakthrough is to convert Adobe Digital Editions to Kindle Mobi or AZW3 format. Stay with me and and I will explain exactly how you can do it.

First, you need to make sure that you’ve authorized your Adobe Digital Editions with an Adobe account. If you haven’t authorized yet, run Adobe Digital Editions > Help > Authorize Computer > fill in your Adobe ID and passwords > “Authorize”. (Create a new Adobe ID if you don’t have one)

Then in the Adobe Digital Editions library, find the books that you want to transfer to Kindle, open and read them to ensure they’ve been downloaded to your local computer.

All thing left is to find an ebook converter that can do the job of converting Adobe files to Kindle Mobi or AZW3 format. You can search the internet by your own, or just pick up the tool I share with you next.

The tool is Calibre. It works great in a really convenient way. It is available for all Windows and Mac computers.

Step 1. Download Calibre at first.

Step 2. Download DeDRM plugin and add it to Calibre

Run Calibre and navigate to Preference on the top menu bar and select the option Change Calibre behavior.

Go to the Advanced section and choose Plugins.

Next, click on Load plugin from file button and select the DeDRM plugin from your computer.

A pop-up warning massage will appear and just click OK to continue.

Now the DeDRM plugin has been added under File type plugins.

Step 3. Convert Adobe Digital Editions to Kindle Mobi or AZW3 format.

Just click Add Books to upload eBooks downloaded from Adobe Digital Editions. Once books have been added successfully, the DRM will be removed automatically.

For Mac: Users\ Your computer name\ Digital Editions …

Next, just click “Convert books” button in the top. On the next window, choose Mobi or AZW3 as the output format.
